Sample Boomer Blog Post
I’m a boomer, married to a boomer, who writes on boomers for national magazines, websites, newspapers, and corporations. “The kids” are adults, my mother and mother-in-law are both 90, and even my beloved dog Isabella is 85 human-years- old. In other words, I get boomers! That’s why I’m blogging about them.
I’m astonished that I am at this life stage. This summer, my son is getting married! I’ll be a mother-in-law! I’m thrilled. It’s also very weird and feels sort of impossible. I might not own a Vespa but like to think of myself as having a cool, full-of-living-motorcycle-mentality. And I easily could own one: Did you know that one-quarter of those who buy Vespas in the U.S. are over age 50? Now that I’m throwing in statistics, research shows that people 40+ often see themselves as at least 12 years younger than they actually are. How about 38 years younger? When I dream, I’m often back in college, off on dates with hot guys. When I wake up, I realize they’re even too young for my own children to date!
Is something happening in your life that makes you feel that milestones and events are an out-of-body experience? What’s going on and how do you feel?
